If you decide, after our conversation, that it is the right time, we can arrange a time for the home visit. I will arrange a 15-30 minute arrival time window. Please set up a cool, quiet, comfortable space for your pet, such as in their favourite spot. Please feel welcome to play some quiet background music or light a candle if you wish. I will send you a link to my online request form, which will ask you for a few important details. The account will be settled beforehand, so that you do not have to worry about this afterwards.
I will greet you and your pet and answer any questions you may have. I will ensure that you are ready and explain the euthanasia process. Family and friends, including children, are welcome to be present if you/they wish, depending on your/their personal preferences. Other calm pets are also welcome, (depending on their temperament, it may be more appropriate if other energetic or younger pets see/smell their companion afterwards to say good-bye).
I first will give some calming sedation which will help your pet relax over 5-15 minutes in your arms, or in their favourite spot with you next to them (if you would prefer not to be this close by or present, this is also okay). I will then slowly administer the euthanasia injection through an intravenous cannula, from which your pet will peacefully drift off into eternal rest. A paw print impression will be made for you using white air-dry clay. Also, a clipping of fur can be provided on request. I am generally at your home for 30-60 minutes, guided by your pace.
After your pet has passed, you have a few options for your pet's aftercare:
1) Pets Eternal Memorial Services are able to meet you at your home as I am due to leave, to collect your pet and organise individual cremation and return of ashes. Their packages and prices are additional to my service and are available to view on their website http://www.petseternalpeace.com.au/ I can call them for you - just let me know.
2) Alternatively, if you elect aftercare with me, I will take your pet with me on the day and transport your pet to Pets Eternal in Burleigh and cremation is arranged at this premises. This will incur my aftercare fee. Pets Eternal will charge their own additional crematorium fee if you elect one of their packages for ashes - just let me know if this is your wish. You will not receive a fee from Pets Eternal if you do not wish for one of their ashes packages, however this is still where your pet will be cremated.
3) You may choose to bury your pet at home. Ensure that local council regulations are followed and that there is no access to your pet by other pets/animals/people. General advice is to bury to a depth of at least 3 feet.
4) If you prefer, it is also okay to arrange an alternative safe and legal aftercare option that is not mentioned above, including services from other pet crematoriums.
