Preparation

If you decide, after our conversation, that it is the right time, I can arrange a time for the home visit. I will set up a 15-30 minute arrival time window. Please set up a cool, comfortable space, perhaps in their favourite spot. Please feel welcome to play some soft background music or light a candle if you wish. I will send you a link to my online request form, which will ask for a few important details. The account will be settled beforehand, so you won’t have to worry about this afterwards.

At Your Home

I will greet you and answer any questions you may have. I will ensure that you are ready and explain the process to you. Family and friends, including children, are welcome to be present if you/they wish, depending on your/their personal preferences. Other calm pets are also welcome, but if they are energetic or younger, it may be more appropriate for them to say goodbye afterwards.

I will give some calming sedation to help your pet relax over 5-15 minutes, whether that is in your arms or in their favourite spot with you by their side (if you'd prefer to keep some distance, that’s also okay). I will then administer the euthanasia solution through an intravenous cannula, allowing your pet to drift off peacefully into eternal rest. If you wish, I will make a pawprint impression for you using white air-dry clay, and a clipping of fur can also be provided upon request. Typically, I will be at your home for 30-60 minutes, guided by your pace.

After Care

1) We can pre-arrange for Pets Eternal Memorial Services to meet you at your home shortly after my service to collect your pet, arrange for individual cremation and return of individual ashes. Their packages and prices are additional to my service and are available to view on their website http://www.petseternalpeace.com.au/. I can call them for you, or you are welcome to call them yourself if you prefer.

2) Alternatively, I can transport your pet to Pets Eternal in Burleigh, where cremation will be arranged on site. My aftercare fee will apply in this case. Should you also select one of Pets Eternal's packages for individual ashes, they will then charge their own additional crematorium fee. You will not incur a fee from Pets Eternal if you prefer not to opt for one of their ashes packages, however cremation will still take place at their facility.

3) You may decide to bury your pet at home. Be sure to comply with local council regulations and ensure there is no access to your pet by other animals or people. It is generally advised to bury pets at a depth of at least 3 feet.

4) Lastly, if you prefer, we can arrange an alternative safe and legal aftercare option not mentioned above, including services from other pet crematoriums.
